KIKUYU NG-CDF SHORT COURSES GRADUATION & EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE
Deputy President, H.E Kithure Kindiki and Kikuyu Constituency MP and National Assembly Leader of Majority, Kimani Ichung'wah, have today led us in the graduation ceremony of 1880 constituents who recently completed training in various short courses. The cohort comprised 275 baristas, 428 caregiver nurse assistants, 282 caterers, 368 cosmetologists, 212 electricians, 16 masons, 13 painters and decorators, 242 plumbers, 10 tile setters, 28 welders and 6 leather workers. The courses were facilitated by select tertiary institutions within the constituency.

The trainees have organized themselves into self-help groups through which they received equipment and seed capital. This will enable them to turn the practical skills and business concepts acquired from their training into tangible and successful businesses. The construction workers will be placed in the Kikuyu Affordable Housing and Kikuyu NG-CDF infrastructure projects to enhance their skills and earn an income.

The NG-CDF Board chairperson, Hon. John Alago Alouch, who was in attendance, lauded the program, terming it a transformational initiative that will empower individuals, families and the society for generations to come. He observed that the initiative should be replicated countrywide across all the 290 constituencies. He recognized MP Kimani’s progressive leadership and indefatigable commitment to education and sustained empowerment of our constituents.

Six Community Welfare Groups from across the constituency received tents and chairs for use during social events and community engagements. In addition to providing community gathering spaces, the groups will earn incomes from hiring out the tents for events to support their activities.
We were also joined by Joined by MPs Alice Nganga (Thika Town), Njoroge Kururia (Gatundu North) Gathoni Wa Muchomba (Githunguri), MCAs, and stakeholders in the tertiary education sector.

We wish our graduates the very best and pledge our full and continued support in their ventures.
